Location of Nigeria in West Africa |
Lodging: Lodging and meals will be provided by the United Church of God in Lagos and at the camp site.
Environment: A semirural setting, with comfortable hotel rooms in an enclosed family-like setting. Working in the developing world presents special rewards and challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to make a lasting impression on the youth of the Church in Nigeria. At the same time, due to lesser development of the sanitation and health care infrastructures, special care must be taken to avoid illness. Vigilance in matters of food and liquid intake is critical. Participants should be prepared for the sometimes Spartan cultural conditions, but they will have the opportunity for significantly great personal growth and accomplishment.
Estimated Cost to Youth Corps Participants: The Youth Corps program will commit to paying half of the cost of the airfare. The cost to each participate for the remaining costs (half of airfare and other costs) is estimated to be approximately $1,600.
Deadline for Application: Feb. 1, 2008.
